Activities week
Monday 16th June
Today, children from year six walked to Moors Valley and took part in Go Ape. It was fantastic to see so many children really grow in confidence.
We even had time for a play in the play park and an ice cream before we walked home.
Tuesday 17th June
Day 2 of the year 6 Activities Week was a trip to Butcher's Coppice. The children enjoyed a range of challenging and fun activities, including fencing, rifle shooting and a high ropes climbing challenge. The sun was shining and we had a fantastic day, full of new experiences and achievements.
Wednesday 18th June
Day 3 of our Activities Week was another busy one, with a guitar lesson, a fun swim, soap carving and den building. It was a very hot day but, thankfully, Mr Blake brought along some hammocks for us to rest in!
Thursday 19th June
Today we had a climbing wall and archery at school. It was another very hot day, but we still managed to enjoy ourselves and keep as cool as possible!
Friday 20th June
Today we had great fun making and then eating pizzas and enjoying the bouncy slide. It was a fantastic way to end the week with lots of fun.
Spring Term Open Morning
We delighted to have held a successful open morning, where parents had the opportunity to join us for an engaging math lesson focused on decimals, fractions, and percentages. It was lovely to see many of you in attendance, actively participating alongside your children as they ordered these numbers by converting them.
Hopefully, this session demonstrated what pupils are learning to do beyond the immediate learning objectives; it aimed to provide insight into the standards our pupils are expected to achieve by the end of May. By engaging with the material, we hope that you better understand the expectations outlined in the SATs papers, which will be sent home shortly for your reference.
As we strive to gently prepare our students for these assessments, we incorporate daily long-term retrieval (LTRs) practice into our lessons. This approach not only reinforces their understanding but also builds confidence.
We would like to extend our thanks to all the parents who joined us on this special day. Your involvement is invaluable as we work collaboratively to support our pupils in their educational journey.
Autumn Term Open Morning
It was lovely to welcome parents and carers into our classrooms this week for our Open Day! We enjoyed sharing our learning on The Highwayman poem and exploring the fascinating features of poetry together. It was heartwarming to see families working alongside their children, gaining a deeper understanding of the skills and knowledge Year 6 students are developing in preparation for SATs and their transition to secondary school. We hope everyone had a fantastic time and left feeling inspired and more connected to our learning community. Thank you for joining us!
